After taking into consideration the prevailing political situation in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in consultation with the Bangkok Asian Martial Arts Games Organizing Committee (BAMAGOC) and the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Thailand has decided to postpone the Ist Asian Martial Arts Games as well as the 28th OCA General Assembly scheduled to be held in Bangkok from 25th April to 3rd May 2009.

The Ist Asian Martial Arts Games will now be held from 6th to 14th of June 2009. The exact details of the OCA General Assembly as well other meetings will be communicated to you shortly.

This decision was reached after carefully taking into consideration the safety of the participating delegates and athletes and hope this will receive your complete understanding and support.

On behalf of the Asian Sports family, I do sincerely hope that normalcy will return soon in Bangkok and we will all be together to celebrate the Ist Asian Martial Arts Games in Bangkok in June 2009.

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah
President OCA
